favorite five…#7

the three most important hedonistic ventures in my life are food, sex, and libations. in that order.

food is nourishing and very necessary. sex is fun and relaxing. and libations lubricate it all.

most of the time these three things are intertwined in my life, i prefer not to have one without the other (but it does happen more often than i like to admit – my morning yogurt usually goes without penetration or whiskey).

here are the five favorite things i have read about the pleasures of life:

the physiology of taste – jean anthelme brillat savarin

-this book is a great journey into the pleasures and the science of taste (as believed in the 18th century). there is a bit about drinking and even less about sex – but hedonism runs as an undercurrent through the whole book.

culinary artistry – andrew dorenburg & karen page

-mostly about food, but it reminds you over and over to enjoy food and life. and it is the best cooking reference book out there.

a new study – science daily

-this study has reminded me to add ‘aggression’ to my list of hedonistic ventures.

the history of drinking in america – a documentary

-an interesting look at american’s love affair with drinking

agent provocateur – lingerie shopping

-some of the sexiest and expensive unders out there. what makes sex better than pretty unders?
